MORE than 100 elderly people were treated to a festive lunch in Evenwood thanks to the work of volunteers.

Arranged by Kimberley Clarke, the annual event at Evenwood Workmen’s Club not only provides a tasty meal and entertainment, but also raises cash for a young people’s disco and the Angel Trust charity. Volunteers were up as early as 3am on Wednesday, December 4, to prepare the meal which included, roast beef, chicken and pork, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and a host of vegetables, as well as warm puddings and cold desserts.

Entertainment in the form of Christmas songs was provided by Jenna Highfield.
