THE hard working organisers of Cockfield’s Christmas Lights have raised hundreds of pounds after two of the group’s most popular events returned for the first time since the Covid alert.
About £550 was raised towards the cost of putting up the lights at a Christmas fair, which was held at the village’s Methodist church hall.
Then, just a few days later, more than £110 was raised for Cockfield Primary School, which hosted an old folks’ tea party.
About 40 senior citizens attended the event, during which pupils sang a selection of carols before food was served.
Year six pupils Pippa and Ben organised the sound and lights to accompany the carols.
Christmas lights committee members Christine Watters said it was good to see the return of these popular events.
They form part of a programme of activities held throughout the year to raise money for the display of lights.
