Dawn drives off with 1967 VW Camer Van after winning competition

LUCKY OF THE DRAW: Dawn McCullim with Dora the Explorer

A BARNARD Castle mum-of-three is over the moon after winning a vintage green and white camper van she has lovingly named “Dora the Explorer” .
Dawn McCullim, from Lower Galgate, took part in the online competition, paying £5.99 for a ticket to be in with a chance of winning a 1967 split screen Volkswagen camper van.
She said: “I was feeling a little bit lucky so I bought the ticket. Never in a million years did I think I would win.”
After her number was drawn, she had to answer a question posed by Aspire Competitions, which organised the event, before she was declared the winner and owner of the fully-restored motorhome.
She added: “I just couldn’t believe it when they rang me up. It was first thing in the morning and I hadn’t woken up properly.”
The competition draw, which had 8,000 tickets, was livestreamed on social media.
Ms McCullim, who underwent a life-saving liver transplant operation six years ago, added: “I had a VW camper about 20 years ago and went to Ireland with that, but it was rusty and hard to drive. When Dora arrived, I still couldn’t believe it.
“She’s just so lovely. I’ve been out a few times around the dale and people wave at your as you go by.
