David aims to light up Middleton-in-Teesdale and Newbiggin Parish Council

HERE TO HELP: Dave Hynes takes on new role as parish councillor

A FORMER chandelier repairman says he hopes to “stop moaning about things and help effect changes” in his new role as a parish councillor.
Dave Hynes, from Snaisgill, in Middleton-in-Teesdale, has become the latest member of the village’s parish council when he was co-opted at their latest meeting on Tuesday, March 17.
Mr Hynes, who moved from the south-east three years ago with his wife Fiona, said: “I’m one of those people that I find myself moaning about things that need to be done.
“It was my wife who said I should stop moaning and start doing something to make a change. So, when I saw the advertisement for the parish council, I thought I would give it a go.”
After 25 years running a variety of businesses including a chandelier repair company, Mr Hynes is now operating a bed and breakfast from his home called Quirky Quarry.
He said his business was selected to appear on a television series, Four in a Bed. However, filming for the show has been delayed due to the current coronavius threat.
“We just thought by applying for the show it was a great way to show off Teesdale to the rest of the country,” he said.
