A Dale nursery is celebrating 30 years of preparing children for their first day at school.
About 800 children have passed through Daybreak Nursery, in High Etherely since it was started by Steph and Neil Morgan in September 1995.
It is now owned by Joanne Hardy who started working for the Morgans a year after they opened.
She said: “The building was built in 1833 and it was the village school then.
“When Toft Hill school was built it became the church hall and it was a church hall until it became a nursery in 1995.
“I quite like that because it has come back to education again and it has come full circle.
“I used to come to playgroup here when it was a church hall. We sang nursery rhymes then and we are singing nursery rhymes here again.”
Similarly, some of the children who attended the nursery now bring their own children, including staff member Lauren Dixon whose daughter Vienna also attends.
Ms Hardy said: “It is wonderful to see the children achieve. When they leave to go to school and you can see they are school-ready and that we have had an input into that. It is hard work, but it is very rewarding.”
The nursery school has about 50 children on its roll.
