Crowd turns out to take part in half term craft activities

ARTS AND CRAFTS: Louisa Brownless and Sandi Truten at the wreath-making session at The Hub

MORE than 130 people attended craft sessions at The Hub, in Barnard Castle, during half term.

The community centre’s boss, Rachel Tweddle, said: “Autumn half term has been a great success at The Hub this year.

“We have delivered craft sessions, toddler activities, art workshops and coding sessions. We have engaged with over 130 individuals this week who have attended activities over four days.

“Our craft bags have been a real success, with customers purchasing a themed bag that includes some seasonal craft items, sweets and a snack and drink from the Hub kitchen.

“Our ‘crafternoon with holly’ sold out, with participants creating natural garlands and decorations using produce from our grounds.

Partnerships with organisations and businesses have led to workshops including drawing with pen and ink sessions and wreath making. Ms Tweddle said: “We seem to have really grasped what our customers want this year and all of our activities have been a huge success.

“It has been lovely to see the new activities mixing with the regular ones such as Tea and Tots and Enriching Lives and to see the atrium filled with fun every day.

“We love to act on feedback and give local people what they want. We are always ready to hear about new ideas.”
