Council to spend £1,000 repairing play area

DANGEROUS EQUIPMENT: The toddler play equipment at Bouch Way

REPAIRS totalling almost £1,000 are to be carried out at a children’s play area in Barnard Castle.
The toddler unit at Bouch Way play area has been roped off since before Christmas after a safety inspection found its platform could give way.
Two swings are also in need of replacement at the popular play area, members of Barnard Castle Town Council’s resources committee were told. Town clerk Martin Clark said money was available from a special reserve fund earmarked for Bouch Way.
He said new swings would cost £216 while repairs to the toddler unit would be £716.
Mr Clark said as a back-up he had also requested a quote for the complete replacement of the toddler unit.
Members agreed to spend the money on repairs.
