Classes to revive the recorder

The recorder

A COMMUNITY event in Teesdale aims to revive the humble recorder.
Over the past 20 years, the recorder has lost popularity in schools and many now lie neglected and unloved in some homes. Anyone who has a recorder, whether descant (just over 12ins), the larger treble (a mellow solo instrument) or the tenor (around 25ins) can bring it along to the Recorder Revival Class and start playing again. Weekly classes take place on most Wednesdays at Startforth Community Centre and last an hour. There are opportunities to improve listening and memory skills, by playing simple phrases without music and music notation will be introduced at a basic level for beginners, whilst those reviving their ability will have the opportunity to add melodies.
A fee is charged to cover expenses. Call Pat Baldwin on 01833 637468.
