Church’s festive fun hits right note for villagers in Evenwood

COLOURFUL: The Cornerstone Christian Centre

A RANGE of events were organised to celebrate Christmas in Evenwood.

Santa’s grotto was set up at Cornerstone Christian Centre.

The festivities, which were organised by Friends of Wellgarth Community House and sponsored by North Star Housing, saw each child receive a gift from Father Christmas.

On Christmas Eve an outdoor carols by candlelight was held at St Paul’s Church.

The singing was led by acclaimed organist and musician Richard Ellis Hawley, who dressed up as Santa, ably assisted by his elf helper Revd Brian Whitely.

The singing was followed by mulled wine, mince pies and socially distanced fellowship.
