Christmas family coffee morning in Mickleton

FEELING FESTIVE The first outdoor Christmas tree put up in Micketon for years

‘TIS the season to be jolly so come and enjoy a couple of hours of free food and good company in our festive village hall.
That’s the message from Micketon as villagers organise a festive family event.
The Christmas coffee morning is taking place in the village hall on Saturday, December 18, between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
One of the organisers Angie Gillings said: “A hot ginger toddy, mulled wine, tea, coffee, soft drinks, homebaked cakes and biscuits, Christmas trees and music should help banish the winter blues.
“We are holding a fundraising raffle to be drawn at 12.15pm with lots of fabulous prizes.”
There will also be a stall selling new/nearly new books, CDs and DVDs for which donations will be gratefully received.
The Goodsyard Crafts shop is bringing along a selection of handmade items suitable for Christmas presents.
Mrs Gillings said “This year we are trying to launch a Mickleton Christmas Tree Festival to give the hall a truly magical appearance. We invite any families who have a ‘spare’ tree to bring it along, then decorate and display it – any time before December 18.
“There will be prizes for the best decorated tree and best individual tree decoration made from natural or biodegradable materials.
“Trees can then be taken home or left in the hall over New Year. We hope to make this an annual tradition.
“Please try to support this new venture and turn our coffee morning into a memorable festive event,” said Ms Gillings. She added: “Finally we are very proud of our outdoor Christmas tree, the first for many years, and would like to thank the Strathmore Estate, Middleton Forge and the small band of local volunteers for making it possible. Merry Christmas everybody.
