GREEN THINKING: Montalbo children have been giving a helping hand to wildlife

MONTALBO School has been awarded the bronze level in the Eco Schools Green Flag programme.

It is an internationally recognised award for excellence in environmental action and learning. The Eco Council at Montalbo meet throughout the month to discuss and implement changes that improve biodiversity, energy use and the environment around school.

Dr Felicity Greenwell, year three teacher and Eco Council leader, said: “The council recently raised money at the school Christmas fayre to buy a hedgehog house for the nature area in the school grounds. The stall was so successful that the council has also been able to buy a toad house to go next to the school pond and a bat box.

“The children are hopeful that they will be well used.”
