Cherry melts hearts of judges

WINNING PET: Jess Sowersby was presented with a framed photograph of her cavapoo Cherry

A PHOTOGENIC cavapoo called Cherry melted the hearts of judges in a doggy Christmas pageant.

There were more than 20 entrants to the competition held at The Witham this month with pooches of all shapes and sizes. However, it was the one-year-old mixed breed cavalier King Charles spaniel and poodle, owned by Jess Sowersby from Barnard Castle, which was declared the winner. Miss Sowersby, who coincidently also works at the arts venue, was presented with a framed photograph of her pet on Tuesday, December 17, by photographer David Williams, of Calico Images, and Sandra Moorhouse, from the Making Barney Brighter Together group, which organised the event. Runners up prizes went to guide dog in-training Fletch, owned by Jan Fryett, and German wire-haired pointer Winnie, owned by Sarah Maddox.
