SOCKS APPEAL: Father and daughter team Chris and Issy Howell are wearing “jazzy socks” as a way to raise cash for Dementia UK

A FATHER and daughter team are pulling up their brightest socks to raise cash for Dementia UK.
Chris and Issy Howell, who run a film production company in Barnard Castle, launched their Jazzy Socks initiative this month in memory of a loved one.
Ms Howell said: “My grandfather had dementia and died from it in May 2017, so we wanted to do something to celebrate his life.”
Her grandfather, Malcolm Trusler, was a well-known quantity surveyor in the north east. Ms Howell added: “He would wear wonderful suits to work but with brightly-coloured socks.
“The way our initiative works is if a member of our film crew or a client on one of our shoots wears bright, colourful socks during the project, we donate money on their behalf to the Dementia UK cause.”
The film company will donate £5 each time one of their crew wears jazzy socks and £10 if a client does the same.
Ms Howell said: “Dementia UK is a great charity with the nurses and family support, which is something we could have benefitted from.”
She urged other people to support Dementia UK as well by visiting the charity’s website dementiauk.org.
Howell Film operates from Enterprise House, on Hamire Enterprise Park.
