Chance of more mini-golf in Barnard Castle this year is 50-50

UNDER PAR: Barnard Castle's mini-golf course has operated a donation only pricing policy this year

STAFFING issues mean it is “50-50” whether Barnard Castle’s mini-golf course will open during the October school half-term holiday.
The course has remained closed for much of this summer season as a result of the lockdown. However, members of Barnard Castle Town Council’s services committee were told it had been open for ten days.
To avoid any handling of cash, those who turned up to play were asked to make a donation. Town clerk Martin Clark said in total £382.65 has been received. Cllr Richard Child, chairman of the services committee, congratulated staff for getting the course ready to open, albeit for just ten days.
“There were a lot of problems with leaves as we had a windy summer. It’s a credit to Martin and the staff for getting things in order.
“We are looking at opening for half-term in October.”
However, Mr Clark said half-term opening was not a certainty. “It’s 50-50 at the moment because of staffing issues,” he said.
