Beavering away earned Gainford twin sisters top award

SUCCESS AT THE DOUBLE: Twins Charlotte and Jessica Edwards with classmates who enjoyed their special assembly

TWIN sisters Charlotte and Jessica Edwards rounded off their time with a dale Beaver group by celebrating receiving the organisation’s top award.

The eight-year-olds, who are members of the 1st Gainford pack, received the Chief Scout Bronze Award.

The duo also achieved You Shape Awards, which they had been working on since the summer. You Shape is a new leadership award which comprises badges which have to be earned in planning, leading and representing their section.

Charlotte and Jessica organised an assembly at Gainford Primary School to extol the benefits of the Beavers to their classmates during which they both agreed that going on camps had been the best part of the experience.

Fiona Divers, one of the Beavers leaders, said: “Between them, they have planned and led sessions in which we built Lego cars and raced them, and where we went on a torchlit nature walk. The idea behind the assembly was for them to represent Beavers to their peers and to spread the word to potential future Beavers about how fun it is.”

The twins have now moved on to become part of the 1st Gainford Cubs.

Scouting is very much part of their family.

Their elder brother George has worked his way through Beavers and Cubs and has now started with the Scouts, while mum Emma is former Brownie and Guide.
