Barney family lights up their ‘Christmas house’

EYE-CATCHING: Mum Zoe

A FAMILY have overcome the Covid lockdown blues by putting up one of Barnard Castle’s most impressive Christmas displays.
The Meighan family have turned to traditional colours and themes to decorate their Galgate home this year. The property is now locally known as the “Christmas house” .
Mum Zoe said the family had expanded on the decorations and lights they have put up each Christmas since moving into the house two-and-a-half years ago.
She said: “It is something we always did when we were young. My dad put up pontoon lights at our home in Startforth.”
This year has been quite tough for the family with their son Jasper being born right at the beginning of the first lockdown, so the lights have brought some additional happiness to everyone.
Mrs Meighan said: “The girls are so excited and everyone loves it. It cheers up the area.”
She added that school children in particular like to stop to have a look at the display.
