Banging the drum at percussion workshop

HAVING FUN: Tyler and Lewis thoroughly enjoyed the workshop

PUPILS from Middleton-in-Teesdale had their music skills enhanced through a workshop with acclaimed soul instrumentalists The Hut People.

The duo of Sam Pirt and Gary Hammond had the children playing a variety of instruments during the event at The Witham, in Barnard Castle. The practical workshop soon had the children playing with confidence and ease on a variety of percussion instruments.

Mr Hammond was impressed with how quickly the pupils picked up the rhythm.

He said: “They are fantastic. We were told they are quite good but we don’t do anything too technical so everyone can get involved.”
