Babul’s Darlington restaurant has officially been named one of the UK’s Top 100 Asian Restaurants by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), cementing its status as the region’s leading destination for South Asian cuisine.
To mark the occasion, four of Babul’s rising stars – Eryn Langford, Anais Garcha, Khloe Connor and Katie Robinson – who have all worked at the Barnard Castle branch, travelled to the House of Lords in London on July 17 to receive the award at a ceremony attended by leading restaurateurs, chefs and industry figures. The event also marked the launch of the 15th annual Asian Curry Awards.
Eryn Langford, Babul’s operations manager, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the team.
He said: “I started at Babul’s when we launched in 2019 and have been part of its journey ever since.
“To now be standing in the House of Lords collecting this award feels surreal – it’s a testament to how far we’ve come by investing in our team, our food and our community.
“This award belongs to everyone who’s helped shape Babul’s into what it is today.”
Owner Shuhel Ahmed added: “To be included in this list is a huge honour and a brilliant reflection of the hard work being done at Babul’s.
“We’re continually looking at ways to improve our offering and our inclusion in this list confirms we’re doing something right. Credit has to go to our amazing team who work hard every day to give everyone the best possible Babul’s experience.”
Curated by the ACF, the Top 100 list celebrates the very best in Asian cuisine across the UK.
