Arrests on suspicion of robbery at Evenwood store

TWO arrests have been made following a New Year’s Day raid on a shop in Evenwood.

The incident happened at about 9.30pm on Wednesday, January 1, at McColl’s shop, on Shirley Terrace.

A man aged 30 and a 16-year-old youth, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

A 25-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a bladed article.

Police are appealing for witnesses. 

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 547 of January 1.
