A RIDING For The Disabled group is looking for people who are willing to give up an hour of their week to help out.
The Richmond and Catterick group, which has several volunteers from Barnard Castle, needs people to offer up their time on a Saturday afternoon to help improve the lives of disabled adults and children.
Saturday lead coach, Sheri Wild said: “One hour lessons are at Catterick Garrison Saddle Club. You don’t need to be ‘horsey’ as full training is given and you won’t have to come every week as we are very flexible. We’ve a number of different roles to fill from organisational to arena support.
“Without our amazing volunteers we couldn’t provide our lessons for disabled adults and children. We’re one big happy family and it’s always a fun time.
“I would urge anyone, from 12 years up, to call and find out more. We welcome potential volunteers to visit us first to see if this opportunity is for them.”
Eleven-year-old Kelsey Power has been benefitting from the riding experience since she was five. She said: “When I have a bad day at school, or when it comes to Friday, I get really happy knowing that horse-riding is tomorrow. It makes me happy and smiley.”
