ALL ABOARD: Finlay Brown, engine driver, takes visitors for a ride

A POPULAR miniature Teesdale railway fires up this weekend with the first in a series of six open afternoons.
Volunteers at Thorpe Light Railway are looking forward to welcoming visitors for the first time this year on Sunday, April 16, between 12.30pm and 4pm when trains will be running on the historic line.
Despite rising fuel costs, the railway team has managed to hold tickets at £3 per person with under-fives and members of the railway going free.
Anthony Coulls, chairman of Thorpe Light Railway, said: “You can ride the train as much as you like, but we sadly will not have refreshments available, so do please bring your own.
“The line is wholly run by the volunteers of the charity Friends of the Thorpe Light Railway and we look forward to welcoming friends, both old and new.”
