A66 remains closed

The A66 over Stainmore

THE A66 remains closed in both directions between Scotch Corner, through Bowes, to the junction of the A685 near Brough in Cumbria, due to severe weather.

Highways England said snow ploughs and gritters are working clear the carriageway and they will re-open the road “just as soon as it is safe to do so”.
A spokesman said: “Please postpone your journey wherever possible and consider whether your journey is absolutely essential.”
