Mystery picture of a frozen Teesdale

A Teesdale Mercury reader brought in this photograph of a woman walking across the iced-over River Tees in January 1940. 

Catherine Brown says she bought it at a table top sale many years ago. She added: “I really don’t know who it is but I did find the pixie hat interesting.”  

The photo has pencil writing on the rear which mentions the name Miss or Mrs Wright – it is unclear which. Can you provide any answers?
