SIX months after launching, Middleton-in-Teesdale Farmer’s Market organiser Naomi Katze couldn’t be happier.
The monthly market, held at the village’s Auction Mart, has proved to be a big hit with both traders and customers.
She said: “It’s going really well. We are averaging about 40 to 45 stalls every month and I’ve got a waiting list for traders. The feedback from customers is brilliant.”
Ms Katze, who moved from North Lincolnshire to Harwood with her husband and three rescue dogs a year ago, held the first market in May and has been delighted with the response ever since.
She added: “I have kept it relevant to food and food related items and it has worked.
“We have customers coming in from all over, from Cumbria, North Yorkshire and County Durham as well as local trade as well. We’ve got two butcher guys, a sausage guy that does pork, but is also doing beef as well now, Baking Bread and lots of fresh food producers,” she said.
“This month, for the first time, we have Graham’s Logs and Timber they will be bringing their fabulous GBLOX briquettes, which are apparently overtaking firewood as they are more cost effective.
“Regulars Palmer’s Earthly Creations are going to be bringing along a whole array of home-grown pumpkins this month.”
The next Middleton-in-Teesdale Farmer’s Market takes place on Saturday (October 26) between 9am and 1pm at the village’s auction mart. The event is free to attend and dog friendly.
Ms Katze added: “It’s been hard work but the success of the market is thanks to the support of all the traders and our lovely customers. So thank you.”
