Dale ram impresses at annual Skipton show

SHOW SUCCESS: David Addison with the top aged ram and reserve champion at the annual Skipton Swaledale show

A DALE farmer enjoyed a successful trip to the annual show and sale of Swaledale rams at Skipton.
A four-shear ram shown by David Addison, representing, JR Addison & Sons, of West Stoneykeld, on Bowes Moor, was judged best aged ram and overall reserve champion, and later went on to sell for an impressive £1,000.
The ram came from a flock first established by Dick Addison, now run by son, John, and his own son, David.
The ram, by a Richard Harker Grayrigg Hall tup and acquired as a shearling in 2018, joined Litton brothers Stephen and Stuart Lund.
The sale produced an overall selling average of £505 for aged rams and while this represented a fall on 2020’s £539.29, the shearling ram average was up on the year from £406.22 to £470.
