Help celebrate new look for Barnard Castle’s Darlington Building Society branch

NEW LOOK: Branch manager Kayleigh Turner and Graham Walker at their newly refurbished premises

THERE will be free cakes on offer on Saturday, February, 2, in Barnard Castle to celebrate the completion of a refit to a town business and to help raise funds for charity.

The Barnard Castle branch of Darlington Building Society, in Market Place, has had a facelift inside and out and staff have organised a re-opening ceremony, complete with specially commissioned cakes.

Graham Walker, from Darlington Building Society, said: “The group has been refurbishing some of the branches which needed work and Barnard Castle was one of them.”

As well as a total repaint inside and out, the branch now has a private consulting room for clients and a semi-private seating area.

Mr Walker added: “The changes that have been made are much better for our clients and we hope lots of people will call in to take a look.

“We have the president of Teesdale Lions Club, Bob Garton, cutting a ribbon at 9am and he will be with us for a while on the morning in the branch. We’ve also commissioned special cakes to be made locally. That’s the motto of the group, a local company for local people.

“Some of our staff members will be going out into the street to hand them out in boxes. Anyone who brings the box back into the branch and we’ll make a donation to charity.”
