NEW VENTURE: Kamal Alley will unveil Capri Pizzeria

DINERS are in a for a treat this week when a town pizzeria reopens its doors following a change of ownership, name and an eight week revamp.

Capri Pizzeria, on Newgate, in Barnard Castle, will open to the public today, Wednesday, February 27, at 5pm and owner, Kamal Alley, is delighted with the work which has been carried out.

Mr Alley, who also owns Il Palazzo on Galgate, said he has spent “a tremendous amount of money” transforming the premises into a vibrant, warm and bright restaurant.

He and his team of builders have installed new flooring, windows and a central heating system and have maintained the open plan kitchen so diners can still watch their pizzas being thrown.

A new bar and waiting area have also been installed and diners cannot fail to notice the eye catching mural of the restaurant’s namesake, Capri on the back wall.

He said: “It’s much warmer here now and I’ve got all new seating and tables so we can seat up to 100 diners.

“I’m keeping the promise I made on the meals offer and you will still be able to get a three course lunch for £6.95.”

The pizzeria will be open seven days a week and an early bird deal will also be available.

Mr Alley also confirmed his Galgate restaurant will be rebranded as Paradiso and will be closed for up to four days while changes are carried out.

It will reopen as a bar and grill and serve a range of different meals including Sunday lunches, but will now only open five nights a weeks.

Mr Alley added: “All the Italian food will now be served at Capri Pizzeria.”
