Youngsters aim for the stars

STAR STRUCK: April Waugh lays leaves as she creates her constellation scene

YOUNGSTERS rocketed off to the stars and planets when they joined the half-term Wild Wednesday activity at Bowlees Visitor Centre last week.
Presented by the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Partnership, the theme was Starstruck to coincide with its Stargazing Festival week.
Community engagement officer Kerryanne Higgins and trainee engagement officer Imogen Coverdale led the children on a star trail which had them identifying constellations, galaxies, shooting stars and other astronomical features.
Afterwards they created their own constellation using sticks and leaves followed by an indoor activity of making paper rockets.
