Welsh Springsteen’ returns for Barnard Castle gig

RETURN VISIT: Martyn Joseph will perform at The Witham on January 23

A SINGER-songwriter billed as the Welsh Springsteen is heading to Barnard Castle.

Critically acclaimed Martyn Joseph will be on stage at The Witham on Wednesday, January 23.

With a career spanning over 30 years, his music is a brand of Celtic and folk featuring a percussive style of guitar playing backed by a powerful voice which has earned him comparisons with Bruce Springsteen.

In addition to his five top 50 UK hits, the importance of his work has been recognised by programmes such as BBC Radio 2’s prime time series on singer-songwriters.

Social justice has an essential presence throughout his music, which has been recognised with various humanitarian awards and plaudits.

Sarah Gent, marketing manager of The Witham, said: “When Martyn played here back in 2016, our visitors really enjoyed his energetic, compelling performance and we are pleased to be welcoming him back.”
