Welcome return to Barnard Castle for The Hut People

WELCOME BACK: The Hut People

A MUSICAL journey around the world is promised with the return to Teesdale of The Hut People.

The duo comprises instrumentalists Sam Pirt and Gary Hammond, who will take to the stage at The Witham on Friday, March 1. Regulars at the neighbouring Swaledale Festival, they have established themselves as a unique, entertaining and best-loved act on the UK folk scene today.

Mixing global rhythms with folk tunes from Quebec to Spain, Scandinavia to Sussex and everywhere in between, the showgoers can expect feel-good dance tunes, audience participation, step dancing and Quebecois foot percussion while playing the accordion all delivered with good humour.

Sarah Gent, marketing manager at The Witham, said: “The Hut People were so well received back in 2017, especially after a wonderful workshop with Green Lane pupils.

“We are delighted to welcome them back and also that pupils from Middleton-in-Teesdale will be enjoying a music workshop with these fantastic performers.” Tickets are £10 in advance, £12 on the night. Call 01833 631107.
