Strictly’s Shirley heads cast for this year’s Hippodrome panto

IT'S PANTO TIME...OH

THE stars of this year’s panto at Darlington Hippodrome got into character for the launch of Jack and the Beanstalk, which opens on Friday, December 6.

Leading the cast is Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas who will take to the stage with Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson, comedian Phil Walker and comedy actor Daniel Taylor.

Shirley said “This is only my second pantomime having been encouraged to give it a try last year by fellow Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood.

“I’m so excited to be appearing in Darlington and this wonderful theatre – the restoration is absolutely stunning.”

By contrast, George is something of a panto veteran.

He explained: “This will be my eleventh panto and I am so looking forward to teaming up with Shirley to be able to do some dancing.

“It has been a dream of mine to do a panto in the north east, this year my dream has come true.”

This year’s show comes courtesy of Qdos Entertainment.

Jake Hine, executive producer, said: “We’ve assembled one of the best casts that we have ever had in Darlington. This cast is current, everybody loves Strictly Come Dancing and Britain’s Got Talent, so combining the two with Phil’s comedy and Daniel’s acting I know Hippodrome audiences will enjoy yet another fantastic show this festive season.”

Jack and the Beanstalk runs until Sunday, January 5, next year.
