A COMEDIAN due to perform in Barnard Castle has pulled out of the gig – but for a very good reason.
Seann Walsh had been lined up to play at The Witham in November as part of the Funny Way To Be’s autumn programme.
But that was before the famously dishevelled funnyman was picked to appear as part of this year’s BBC Strictly Come Dancing line-up, alongside the likes of former test cricketer Graeme Swann and news reader Kate Silverton.
Seann Walsh’s show in Barney has now been rearranged for Wednesday, April 10, next year, by which time he may have become a household name.
Funny Way To Be promoter Peter Dixon said: “Seann Walsh has landed a spot on one of the premier shows on the TV, so we fully understand why he had to change his tour schedule.
“He was very keen to come to Barnard Castle though and we quickly rearranged a new
date.” In the meantime, comedy fans can get their
stand-up fix on Tuesday, September 18, when Iain Stirling will be at The Witham. A well known face on television, he is the recognisable cheeky voice of ITV2’s Love Island.
He is also currently hosting the second series of comedy game show CelebAbility on ITV2 and boasts a host of other television credits.
Mr Dixon said he was excited to bring Iain Stirling back to Barney, after following his career for the past ten years.
“In fact Iain did perform for us at a show in the Parish Hall in Barney several years ago,” he said.
“He’s now one of the hottest comics on the TV recognised as the voice of the TV summer smash hit Love Island.
“This BAFTA winning TV presenter and top comic, is in phenomenal demand, and this is the only North East date to catch Iain’s brilliant observations on modern millennial life.”
Tickets are available now from funnywaytobe.com or The Witham box office on 01833 631107.
