Strictly all welcome at Dianne’s dance class

STEPPING OUT: Dianne White will be helping would-be dancers learn to cha-cha-cha.

If you don’t know your rumba from your two-step but want to learn, then a new dance class may be just the ticket to get you swirling around the ballroom.

Dance teacher Dianne White has organised an adult beginners’ dance class starting on Thursday, February, 7, at Ingleton Village Hall between 11.15am and 12.15pm.

Ms White, who has a dance studio based at Shildon, said: “I’ve danced most of my life and started when I was just five. However, I gave up competing about 30 years ago when I started teaching.”

Ms White already hosts an intermediate class at the hall each week and this will continue.

She said: “The intermediate classes actually started 13 years ago as a beginner’s class and everyone has come on leaps and bounds. We’ll be concentrating on old time dances as well as latin and sequence, though I have just been teaching Scottish reels for a Burns’ night. It’s a great way to keep fit and it is very social activity.”

In addition to the dance classes, Ms White organises tea dances and socials where students can try out their new moves.

The classes cost £7 and anyone wishing to book a place can contact her on 07795 202707.
