Stop No 98 sees Robin visit town bookshop as part of national tour

A GOOD READ: Comedian Robin Ince at McNab's bookshop

A COMEDIAN who is more accustomed to performing in front of thousands settled for an audience of just a dozen during a visit to Barney last week.
Robin Ince is due to join celebrity physicist Professor Brian Cox for an arena tour which will cross the world next year.
He warmed up by visiting McNab’s, in Market Place, as part of his 100 Bookshops tour, before enjoying an intimate show at The Witham later in the evening.
He was promoting his new book The Importance of Being Interested: Adventures in Scientific Curiosity.
McNab’s was stop number 98 on his bookshop tour, which began in October.
“They are all independent bookshops. Because I am on tour all the time, I always go into independent bookshops,” he said.
“After the last year, they have done exceptional things not just to survive, but thrive.
“I have always liked independent bookshops, and every one is slightly different – it’s that level of curation you get.”
After Christmas, and Covid restrictions notwithstanding, he is due to begin the new tour with Prof Cox in New Zealand before heading to Australia, the US and then back to the UK.
