Socially distanced laughs with Daliso

BARNEY BOUND: Comedian Daliso Chaponda

NEW arrangements have been put in place for the visit of comedian Daliso Chaponda to Barnard Castle – but the good news is that the show is going ahead.
The Britain’s Got Talent finalist will perform at The Witham on May 28, however, Covid-19 restrictions which will be in force at the time mean the auditorium will be arranged to ensure the audience remains socially distanced.
A star of BBC Radio 4’s Citizen of Nowhere, Daliso Chaponda is heading back out of the house and on a stage with a new hour of material taking the sharpest look at life.
While it’s fair to say that 2020 didn’t go to plan, he’s been performing online daily to millions of viewers.
Promoter Peter Dixon, of Funny Way To Be comedy, said the socially-distanced set up for the show would not affect the atmosphere.
“Having done a few shows like that last year, we are certain it will not dampen the laughs,” he said.
Mr Dixon added: “Daliso Chaponda is one of the hardest working comics out there. He was one of the stars of last summer’s Comedy Carpool drive-in series and in December starred in the Royal Variety Performance.
“He’s been a regular on several comedy streaming shows. We are delighted that it will not be long now before he brings his enormous personality and top joke-writing skills back to a real life theatre audience in Barnard Castle.” Ticket details are available online at www.funnywaytobe .com.
