Singer’s new EP raises awareness of heartfelt subject

COLLEGE PROJECT: Rebecca-Anna Hosey

A SINGER songwriter is excited her newly released EP, Hurt People, is hitting the right note by raising awareness of all forms of abuse.
The dark subject expressed in Rebecca-Anna Hosey’s most recent release is not what you would expect from a bubbly 20-year-old with each of the four songs focussing on a different form of abuse.
She said: “It was part of a level six module at college where we had to create a social media campaign. With me being a songwriter, I wanted to do something I was passionate about, not just something for the sake of it.”
As well as scripting and producing four short films Ms Hosey penned songs – The Game You Played, Bruised, Empty Pockets and No Means Nothing – highlighting domestic, sexual, financial and physical abuse, releasing them as an EP last
month.
Since the release all four songs have hit the airwaves being played on BBC Radio Newcastle, Bishop FM and Spark Sunderland.
Ms Hosey, who is moving to Brighton in September, added: “I’m really excited with the attention they’ve had so far and it is so affirming to me as an artist and as it raises awareness about abuse.”
Anyone who wants to check out the EP can find it on all major streaming platforms including AppleMusic, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube Music and iTunes.
