School and pupils pull out the stops to perform Rocky Monster

HARD WORK: Pupils from Gainford Primary School rehearse for their main performances of the Rocky Monster Show

CHILDREN from Gainford Primary School had only four short weeks after sitting their SATs to rehearse for their one-and-a-half hour end-of year-production of the Rocky Monster show.

The key stage two pupils performed a full dress rehearsal in front of younger stundents ahead of the main showsfor audiences of parents and villagers. Headteacher Chris Riley said: “There are lots of ghosts, a mad scientist, zombies and Elvis.” She praised the children, many of whom had solo singing performances, and in particular Sarah Phillips, who in the lead role of Fenton, had to learn 119 lines. Mrs Riley said: “They are all getting quite excited by it.”
