Relax… and help secure The Witham’s future

HELPING THE CAUSE: Melissa Pegg is organising a yoga fundraising event at The Witham

YOGA fans are being invited for a spot of relaxation in an effort to help save The Witham.

Melissa Pegg is organising a hatha yoga fundraising workshop which will take place at the arts centre on Saturday, October 6, from 10am to noon. There will also be mindfulness practice during the session.

Ms Pegg, who lives in Barnard Castle, is a Level Four British Wheel of Yoga teacher. She has been practising for 20 years and teaching for the past five years.

The 37-year-old is a regular visitor to The Witham and felt she wanted to do something to help support the centre’s fundraising campaign.

She said: “I think it would be a great loss to the town if The Witham closed. I don’t think it is high brow. I think it is for everyone.

“I go to The Witham everyday with my son William who is 21 weeks old. He is probably one of their youngest fans.”

She added: “I love the social aspect of it. It is very relaxing. The staff are very friendly and there is always something going on. Part of my heart is in it. I really feel that strongly about it.

“There is something unique and quirky about it being in a town like Barnard Castle.

“It feels amazing to be helping.”

The suggested entry fee is £10. There are 20 spaces available which must be booked in advance at The Witham’s box office but entry is payable on the day. Those taking part must arrive at 9.45am to register. People of all abilities who are over the age of 16 are welcome to attend.

For more information contact Ms Pegg on 07739 998242.
