Poignant WW1 show at Staindrop

BEATING THE DRUM: Fool's Gold

STAINDROP’S Scarth Hall will mark Remembrance Day with a unique First World War themed performance.
Duo Fool’s Gold will present Beat The Drum – A Commemoration of the Great War in music, story and images.
The performance tells the story of Michael Heaviside, a Geordie miner from Craghead who became a soldier and went to war.
In May 1917 he was awarded the Victoria Cross.
Husband and wife team Steve and Carol Robson follow Michael’s story with a tale of the “war to end all wars” woven in.
Songs from the time sit alongside original music and the show features stunning projected visuals which make use of archive and original graphics to provide a fascinating visual backdrop.
Steve and Carol’s shows combine live acoustic music, interwoven with powerful stories and projected visuals. Their shows have a strong theme and a narrative that runs through them.
Beat the Drum will be performed at 7pm on Friday, November 11.
Tickets are £10 at Staindrop Post Office, or from Ticketsource.
