Jazz on the green returns to Gainford

WE'RE BACK: The New Orleans Preservation Jazz Band will be back on Gainford village green on September 12

AN open-air jazz performance which proved a hit with villagers is to be repeated.
Jazz on the Green, in Gainford, brought some relief from the Covid restrictions when Bill Goyder and the New Orleans Preservation Jazz Band staged a socially-distanced show between lockdowns last year. The band will return to Gainford village green on Sunday, September 12, at 1pm.
Anyone wishing to enjoy the music can bring their own picnic lunch, chairs and rugs.
A collection will be made in support of St Mary’s Church, Gainford.
Organiser Geoff Taylor said all involved were keen to stage the show again.
“It was a super day last year. Bill is a member of the church and he asked if the band could come again – they were anxious to do it,” he said.
If the weather is inclement, the performance will go ahead inside the church.
