Fashion show to aid Marie Curie

A CHARITY fashion show to raise money for a cancer charity aims to show you can still put together a dazzling ensemble on a limited budget.
The event, which is being held at St Mary’s Parish Hall, in Barnard Castle, on October 29, has been organised by Jules Deehan, manager of the town’s Marie Curie Cancer Care charity shop.
All the outfits that will feature in the show have been selected from items donated to the shop.
Ms Deehan said: “We just wanted to show how versatile shopping in a charity shop can be.
“We’ve managed to create some excellent ensembles and I would say cool gothic glamour meets autumnal evening wear.
“With Christmas approaching and the possibility of a few parties, we wanted to show that being creative you can put together a really stylish outfit for not a lot of money, but we also want to have a bit of fun.”
She added: “We’ve got quite a few models already, of all different ages but I could do with a few more and would love to hear from anyone who would be interested.”
Evening and day wear outfits have been put together along with a “Steam Punk” style category and a number of fun items including Halloween inspired ties.
Ms Deehan has also made use of material destined for the recycle bin to create ingenious, woven hats.
Tickets to the show cost £5 and are available in advance from the Marie Curie Cancer Care Shop.
The ticket price includes a welcome drink on arrival.
She added: “It’s been a massive combined effort to put this together as everybody has been so generous in helping organise the event.
“A lot of people are making things specifically for the event and it will show just how creative we can be.
“Tim, at the Curiosity Shop, has been fantastic, donating the tickets and poster and lots of businesses have offered prizes for the raffle.”
