Family event about Teesdale’s mammals

WILDLIFE EXPERT: Ian Findlay

WILDLIFE fans are getting the chance to find out about the mammals of upper Teesdale during a family fun event.

They can join dale expert Ian Findlay and National Nature Reserve manager Adam Millington and help them examine and record their finds for an annual survey on Saturday, October 5, between 2pm and 5pm.

Mr Millington said: “Come along to learn about the shy and secretive animals that live near High Force, and hopefully meet a few too.

“We hope to have small mammals in the hand to show you, which will be weighed and measured before being returned to their homes.

“We will also be checking our camera traps to see which species have been using the area.”

Walking is moderate on a well-defined path for about 1.5 miles. People should wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the outdoors.

Meet at High Force car park – there’s a charge for parking. Booking is essential on http://bit.ly/mammal19 (copy into your browser) or phone 01833 622374.
