Exciting times as About the Humans prepare to preview new album

ALBUM PREVIW: About the Humans

DALE singer-songwriter Andrew Yeadon will unveil his latest album at a special preview gig in Barnard Castle early next month.
Andrew heads the group About the Humans, which he describes as “the latest incarnation of the band that plays my songs that’s had many names over the years” .
Joined by long term collaborators Moray Nellis – Andrew’s sister-in-law – on vocals and old friend Paul Hughes on violin, the band also features Rupert Philbrick on bass and drummer Owen Davies, who is also producing the eponymous LP.
“This is a name we are hopefully going to stick with. It is the group I am most excited about. I have got people I have worked with for a long time, that I get on very well with musically and on a social level,” said Andrew.
“There is this magic chemistry at the moment.”
They will take to the stage at The Witham on Saturday, December 3, and will play the new album in full.
The gig had been intended as an album launch, but Andrew said that with more work needed, the band had decided not to rush to get it finished.
Instead, the show is now billed as a pre-launch live performance.
“The more we have been getting into the album, the more we have seen it can be quite good. We don’t want to rush it for the sake of the gig, but want to do it properly. Now we have got the time, we can do something really quite special.”
He said the songs for the new album had been, not surprisingly, inspired by current events.
“There are songs about the flooding, just before the pandemic; songs about the pandemic, being in lockdown, the government scandals; the Ukraine conflict, Boris and Donald – all slightly unforeseen things.”
About the Humans will be Andrew’s ninth album since he first started writing songs as a 12-year-old. He said it was the love of music that kept him enthused.
“We have been told this is the best we have we have sounded, which is lovely to hear. We just enjoy what we are doing.”
Tickets for the About the Humans gig are £12/£10. Go to www.thewitham.org.uk or call the box office on 01833 631107.
