Comedy keeps coming with four shows in four nights

GOOD IMPRESSION: Scott Bennett returns to Barnard Castle after supporting Chris Ramsay

THERE is plenty of laugh about in Teesdale as the nights draw in with four stand-up shows in four nights, courtesy of Funny Way To Be Comedy.
All four shows, from Wednesday, November 17, to Saturday, November 20, will be staged at The Witham, Barnard Castle.
There will be quite different styles of comedy on offer as Scott Bennett, Mark Thomas and two nights from Nish Kumar aim to provide plenty of laughs.
Promoter Peter Dixon said: “Scott may currently be unknown to the man in the street, but you only have to see him perform live to know how good he is and what a future he has in the world of comedy.
“When he supported Chris Ramsey, in Barnard Castle, in the summer, we sold 80 tickets to people who saw his 30-minute set and wanted to see more.”
Tickets for Scott Bennett’s show are £12.
On Thursday, November 18, Mark Thomas brings his trademark style of storytelling, subversion and well researched material to hilarious effect.
50 Things About Us is a show about songs, gongs, loot, tradition, wigs, nicking, statues, art and identity – a sort of funny national edition of Who Do You Think You Are?
Mr Dixon added: “I’ve seen Mark’s show and it’s a real delight.
“It is typical of his well-crafted material delivered in a very passionate way.”
Tickets for the show are generally £17.50 but there is a £12.50 ticket for students and those on low wages.
Then, on Friday, November 19, and Saturday, November 20, there are two work-in-progress evenings with top TV comedian, Nish Kumar, the host of Late Night Mash Report and one of the Guardian’s Top Fifty Comedians of the 21st Century.
His new show is called Control and tickets are just £8. The Saturday show is already sold out and there is limited availability for the Friday night. Any returns will be advertised on the Funny Way To Be website.
Tickets have gone on sale for a show by Lou Sanders, which is scheduled for May 13 next year.
Having sold out her previous Barnard Castle show prior to the pandemic, she returns with One Word: Wow.
