TAKE A BOW: Members of the Royal Northern Sinfonia will be playing music by familiar and not-so-familiar composers at The Witham

MEMBERS of the North East’s professional orchestra, the Royal Northern Sinfonia, will be performing four pieces of music at The Witham on Sunday, January 14 at 2pm.

Of the four pieces that have been selected to show off just what you can do with small groups of wind and string instruments, two are by household names Sergei Prokofiev and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The other two pieces are by composers most may not know, Reinhold Gliere and Grazyna Bacewicz.

The Sinfonia will perform Gliere’s String Octect in D Major, Prokofiev’s Quintet in G minor, Bacewicz Quartet for Four Violins and Mozart’s String Quintet in G Minor.

They will return again on Sunday, April 7 at 2pm. Tickets for the event cost £18 for adults and £16 for under 16s. To book visit The Witham’s Box Office online at www.thewitham.org.uk or ring 01833 631107.
