Chance to make your mark at The Hub in Barnard Castle

MAKE YOUR MARK: Artist Holly Scott and The Hub's Vicky Taylor are looking for young people to come up with a suitable design for a mural on the workshop wall

YOUNGSTERS with an eye for design are being invited to help create and paint a mural that will be a permanent fixture at a community venue in Teesdale.

As part of the summer partnership programme between The Hub, The Witham and The Bowes Museum, organisers at The Hub on Shaw Bank, Barnard Castle, are running a project for young people to make their mark on the venue itself.

Events manager at the Hub, Vicky Taylor, said: “Our workshop room is being so well used every week we want to revamp this light, bright space by giving young people from the community a say in what it will look like.

“The space is currently used for pottery, crafting groups, creative workshops and a communal space for groups using the on-site accommodation.

“Together with local artist Holly Scott, participants will discuss ideas, create designs and then paint the wall mural.

“Young people will literally leave their mark for generations to come,” she added.

There will be two art sessions on Friday, August 16, and Monday, August 19, between 10am until 3pm. The sessions are suitable for youngsters aged eight years and older and cost £20 per day, or £23.50 including lunch.

Anyone wanting to book a place and make their mark on the well-used venue, should contact The Hub on 01833 690150.
