Best selling author brings new show to Barnard Castle

SOMETHING DIFFERENT: Gill Sims is bringing her new show to Barnard Castle

GILL Sims, Sunday Times best-selling author and creator of the hugely successful parenting blog Peter and Jane, is embarking on a tour of the UK with a brand-new comedy show which includes a date at The Witham, in Barnard Castle, on Saturday, April 9.
Fans are invited to join Ms Sims for a night of entertainment as she and Jo Middleton, author of Playgroups and Prosecco and creator of Slummy Single Mummy, take a hilarious look together at the changing face of motherhood, from toddlers to teenagers, relationships, the highs and lows of the school gate, unexpected bodily fluids and much more.
There will be readings from Ms Sims’ critically acclaimed books and audiences can rest assured that the evening will be the perfect opportunity to remind themselves they are not alone – and maybe even have the chance to share some anecdotes of their own.
Ms Sims’ first book Why Mummy Drinks was the bestselling hardback fiction debut of 2017, spending more than six months in the top ten of the Sunday Times bestsellers charts and was shortlisted for Debut Novel of the Year at the British Book Awards.
The four “Why Mummy” titles have sold nearly a million copies across all formats to date and are published worldwide.
Her highly anticipated new novel, The Saturday Night Sauvignon Sisterhood, will be published in May.
Promoter Peter Dixon, of Funny Way To Be Comedy, said: “This promises to be a little different, but equally hilarious, from the shows we usually present at The Witham.
“Gill is very popular for her books of course, and she’s also embraced social media in a big way creating a big following for her work.
“We are very much looking forward to it. There’ll be a chance to meet Gill at the end of the show too and get one of her books signed.”
Ms Sims lives in Scotland with her husband, two children and two Border terriers.
She lists her interests as drinking wine, wasting time on social media, trying and failing to recapture her lost youth and looking for one of the dogs when he decides to go on one of his regular jaunts, whilst trying to stop the other one eating unspeakable things.
Tickets for the show, priced £22.50, are available now from funnywaytobe.com or the Witham Box Office. The show is suitable for 16-plus.
