FIVE of the leading comedy acts to emerge from Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) over the last couple of year are – all being well – heading to Barnard Castle this year.
Following the success of his huge sell-out 2019 UK tour, Lost Voice Guy is heading back to The Witham on Wednesday, March 17. The BGT winner will poke fun at his life as a disabled person in a post-apocalyptic world, as he tries to cope with the fame and fortune since his memorable victory.
West End star and multi award-winning magician Ben Hart – a BGT finalist in 2019 – is set to deliver the magic on Saturday, May 8.
Postponed from 2020 the show is already close to selling out. Described by David Walliams as “the living embodiment of magic” , he conjures a show that shines a light on magic, life, the universe and the darkest corners of your imagination.
Following his final appearance in 2017, Daliso Chaponda picked up a BBC Radio 4 series entitled Citizen of Nowhere. He returns to the Barnard Castle stage with a new hour of the slickest, sharpest look at life. He’s been performing online daily to millions of viewers and his show on May 28 gives fans a chance to see what this master of satire has been cooking up!
September 2021 brings both the current BGT winner and the third placed finalist to The Witham with shows that have no age restriction.
After years of working the circuit, comedian, juggler and variety star Steve Royle takes his first national theatre tour, The Royle Variety Performance, on the road for a fun-filled evening for all the family. He stops off at The Witham on September 22.
Then on September 29 it’s musical comedy with Jon Courtenay.
Jon is the first ever Golden Buzzer act to win BGT.
With a soundtrack including all his songs from the TV show and music spanning the classics to rock n roll, fans are guaranteed a rip-roaring night of music and comedy.
The comedy comes courtesy of the Funny Way to Be club. Promoter Peter Dixon said: “It isn’t quite true that I’ve got Simon Cowell’s phone number on speed dial on my telephone but we do watch carefully who are the top comedy acts that delight audiences throughout the rigours of the show.
“We are thrilled that they have all agreed to bring their tour shows, which are generally being performed in much bigger venues than ours.
“These five acts are at the top of their game in terms of pure stand-up, musical comedy, magic, specialist acts and good old variety.”
Tickets are priced £14 to £18, and are available from The Witham box office or on-line at www.funnywaytobe. com.
