A STUDIO group’s forthcoming two-day exhibition is to feature work they created throughout the year.
Members of Hamsterley studio group, led by renowned artist and illustrator Linda Birch, are preparing to show their work in the village hall later this month.
Mrs Birch, famous for illustrating the TV Bagpuss series, started the group after moving to the area with her husband in 1999. Initially, the group had around eight members and has now boasts 15 regulars who travel from all over the region to attend. The group meets in the village hall and tackles subjects including still life, abstract art, and animals in different media such as oils, pastels, watercolours and collage set by Mrs Birch.
It is only the second time the group has staged an exhibition of its work in the village.
The first took place before the pandemic.
Mrs Birch said: “There will be a huge variety of work because each time we used different medium. They are all different interpretations of a subject and the idea is to stretch people’s abilities.”
Tracey Hull, one of the group’s original members, said: “It is a lovely group and Linda really helps bring on our skills.”
The two-day exhibition takes place on Saturday, November 19, and Sunday, November 20, and will be open between 11am and 3pm. Entry is free and there will be refreshments available for a donation, which will go to charity.
Selected artwork in the exhibition will be on sale.
