THE only person to have won both the best newcomer and best show awards in consecutive years at the Edinburgh Festival is heading to Barnard Castle this weekend.
John Kearns brings his tour show to The Witham on Saturday, October 12.
An internationally acclaimed act, he has performed extensively, picking up two Melbourne Barry Award nominations in Australia along the way.
Off the back of sold out residencies at the Soho Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre and at the Edinburgh Fringe, he toured across the UK for the first time in 2018 with his third solo show.
This show, Double Take and Fade Away, is a part of that follow up tour.
He has numerous television credits to his name and across the airwaves he has performed his own series The John Kearns Show and guested on Tim Key Delves into Daniil Kharms and That’s It, as well as hosting and guesting on numerous shows throughout the Edinburgh Fringe. His Barnard Castle gig is part of Funny Way To Be Comedy’s autumn programme.
Promoter Peter Dixon said: “John is one of my personal favourite all time great comedians. He’s an expert on the history of comedians and is recognised in the comedy industry and by comedy fans as one of the most original and distinctive acts performing today.
“I’m sure it will not be long before this is recognised more widely and becomes a household name.
“We are thrilled he’s bringing this tour show to Barnard Castle.”
Tickets for the show are £12 and are available now from funnywaytobe.com or the Witham Box Office on 01833 631107.
